Sumita Sinha

Sumita Sinha (India) is an ecological architect who has worked in India, Venezuela, Serbia, France, Spain and the United Kingdom. Recently she has set up Charushila, a small charity promoting culturally appropriate sustainable architecture. She is a Civic Trust assessor and sits on a number of panels advising on education, design and sustainability. She is the course leader of the MA Architecture of Rapid Change and Scarce Resources at the London Metropolitan University. She also is visiting lecturer at the Delhi School of   Planning and Architecture, and external examiner for the University of Birmingham.

Sumita is the founder of Architects for Change, the Equality Forum at the Royal Institute of British Architects, and past Chair of Women in Architecture, a forum aimed to increase the number of practicing women architects. She has featured on BBC and ITN television and spoken on BBC and other radio stations on design, planning and work practice issues. In 2003, her portrait was included for an exhibition about 28 women who had made a difference to the life and culture of Britain, held at the City Arts Centre in Edinburgh.
