In 2007 Arons and Gelauff architects won the competition for the construction of the Pontsteiger building in Amsterdam's Houthavens. Their striking design for a large, landmarking building with hundreds of homes and various amenities, was intended as a key project in the redevelopment of the former harbor area.

After long delay, the intended developer returned the commission for the construction of the Pontsteiger to the municipality in 2013. With a new combination of developers, construction will finally start next spring - eight years after completion of the original design.

Architect Arnoud Gelauff presents the different versions of the design for the Pontsteiger that his office has made over the years. A central topic are the peculiarities of working, as an architect, on a project with an extended time span and changing clients.
