In 2007 Arons and Gelauff architects won the competition for the construction of the Pontsteiger building in Amsterdam's Houthavens. Their striking design for a large, landmarking building with hundreds of homes and various amenities, was intended as a key project in the redevelopment of the former harbor area.

After a long delay, the intended developer returned the commission for the construction of the Pontsteiger to the municipality in 2013. With a new combination of developers, construction will finally start next spring - eight years after completion of the original design.

Architect Arnoud Gelauff presents the different versions of the design for the Pontsteiger that his office has made over the years. A central topic are the peculiarities of working, as an architect, on a project with an extended time span and changing clients.
