Academy of Architecture
Waterlooplein 211-213
1011 PG Amsterdam

Ard Hoksbergen, Milad Pallesh and Ivar van der Zwan all studied architecture at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam and all won the prestigious Archiprix NL with their graduation project. In 2016 they opened their office, Workshop Architects. On Sunday 3 November they will deliver the Kromhout Lecture: Pragmatic Idealism. What has been the journey of their small starting office, working on medium/large-scale housing projects? Describing three projects, they will talk about determining and developing ambitions and ideals. Architecturally and socially. And how they try to uphold those ambitions and ideals while working on real large-scale commissions. The lecture will be held during the Graduation Show 2019 at the Academy of Architecture.

Kromhout Lecture
The Kromhout Lecture is named after architect Willem Kromhout, who was one of the founders of the Academy in 1908. Every year the lecture is delivered by one of our alumni. Previous speakers included Donna van Milligen Bielke, Philomene van der Vliet and Jan Maas.
