To register for one of the 4-year master's programs at the Academy of Architecture, you must complete the following steps (Guest and exchange students first contact avb-studiesecretariaat@ahk.nl, and also check the info for Exchange and guest students).

1 April 2023: Deadline for international applications.
The Studielink registration has been completed and the necessary documents for registration have been submitted.

1 May 2023: Deadline for Dutch applications.

mid-June: You will be notified regarding your admission to the Academy of Architecture (if not sooner).

24 August 2023 (Thursday): start programme 2023-2024

Studielink.nl is the official Dutch registration website for higher education. To apply for the master's degree program you must first register in Studielink. You need a copy of your ID to do so.

If you officially live in the Netherlands (i.e. you are registered in a Dutch municipality) you must use DigiD to log in to Studielink (DigiD is a personal code that gives access to websites of the Dutch government.).

If you are not (yet) registered in the Netherlands, you do not have a DigiD code and you must log in with a Studielink username and password. You will need to create an account. When selecting the course of your choice, use the following options when asked:

Educational institution: Amsterdam University of the Arts.
Study programme level: HBO Master.
Academic load: Part-time
Main language: choose Dutch or English
Then choose: 'Master in Architecture', or 'Master in Landscape Architecture', or 'Master in Urbanism'.
Start date: 1 September 2023.

After completing your registration in Studielink, you will receive an automatic email with information on where and how to upload the required documents.

On the upload page, applicants should answer the following questions and upload the following documents:

a. Kopie van paspoort of identiteitsbewijs/ Copy of passport or identity card

b.Een recente pasfoto in JPEG formaat/ Passport photograph in JPEG format
Deze wordt gebruikt voor je studentenkaart als je wordt toegelaten. (In case of enrollment, this photo will be used for the student card).

c.Diploma('s) en cijferlijsten van de studie bij vraag 1/ Diploma(s) and grades lists of the study at question 1.
Als het diploma nog behaald moet worden, upload dan een notitie met de verwachte datum, maar stuur het diploma vóór 1 september naar Theo Peters. Upload ook het certificaat van de pre-master, indien in jouw geval van toepassing. If the diploma has yet to be obtained, please upload a note with the expected date, but send the diploma to Theo Peters before 1 September. Upload the certificate of the pre-master course as well, if applicable in your case.

d. Curriculum Vitae/ Curriculum Vitae
We eisen geen specifieke softwarekennis, maar zouden graag willen weten of je die wel hebt. Vermeld deze dan in je CV! We do not require specific software skills, but we would like to know if you have any. Please include these in your CV!

e. Motivatie (maximaal 1000 woorden)/ Motivation (maximum 1000 words)
Upload een korte motivatie waarom je je speciaal aanmeldt voor de Academie van Bouwkunst Amsterdam en deze afstudeerrichting. Upload a short explanation why you sign up specifically for the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture and this master’s program.

f.Beheersing van de Engelse taal/ Command of the English language
Studenten dienen voldoende beheersing van de Engelse taal te hebben, equivalent aan niveau B2 (Havo-niveau) van het Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Upload een bewijs of een toelichting. Students need to have sufficient control of the English language, equivalent with level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Upload any kind of  proof or an explanatory note.

g. Link naar Portfolio (max. ongeveer 20 pagina’s!)/ Link to Portfolio (max. about 20 pages!) 
Toegankelijke link naar je portfolio op het internet. (Het portfolio moet in ieder geval tot 1 september toegankelijk zijn. Zorg dat het voor ons openbaar bereikbaar is, zonder het gebruik van inlog-codes of aanmeldprocedures). Accessible link to your portfolio on the internet. (The portfolio must in any case be accessible until 1 September.Make sure it is publicly accessible for us, without the use of login codes or registration procedures.)

A selection procedure is part of the admission to one of the master's programs at the Academy of Architecture. Selection takes place on the basis of motivation, portfolio, the requirements and, if necessary, an (online) interview. Every year more students sign up than we can allow. That is why the selection is thorough. Attention is also paid to a balanced mix in the cohort to be admitted (Dutch/international; gender; previous education).

Within three weeks after uploading your application documents, you will receive a confirmation of receipt from the Academy of Architecture and information about the next steps in the procedure. If you have not received a message by the end of this period, please contact avb-studysecretariat@ahk.nl

Candidates who do not qualify after initial assessment will be notified as soon as possible after 1 April. Candidates who do pass the first selection, may be invited for a 15-minute online interview with one or two members of the Admissions Committee in April/May.

We expect to be able to give the final result as soon as possible in June.
