Ueli Roth

Ueli Roth was born in 1935 in Aarau, Switzerland and graduated from the ETH Zürich as an architect in 1959. In 1961 he got his Master's degree Urban Design" from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design of (Dean José Luis Sert). He founded "Büro ur, Ueli Roth" in Zürich, Switzerland in 1966.

Since the end of the eighties, the office of Ueli Roth has been commissioned with the planning of two of the largest urban renewal projects in Switzerland (Zürich Nord / Neu Oerlikon and Baden Nord) in public/private partnerships. More projects of this kind are in progress in his office at this time such as Maag -Areal in Zürich West with Switzerland‘s tallest high rise building – the Prime Tower (architects: Gigon – Guyer). Together, these projects have a volume of about € 5 billion. So far, about 80% of the buildings have either been completed or are underway in various architectural firms.

Besides the large urban renewal projects he designed and build one of the three underground stations, including a streetcar and bus station for the Zürich Regional Rapid Transit System. Until 1992, Ueil Roth led and coached the transborder coordination of French/German/Swiss  planning  in  the Basel/Upper  Rhine  region  (airport, general transportation, regional rapid transit, power generation, environment).
