Ningo PramPram: a pixel of the 500 km gold coast city

This course focused on the spatial challenges and potentials of the rapidly-urbanizing west coast of Africa stretching from Abidjan to Lagos. Specifically on the east side of Accra and taking the site of the planned urban extension of Ningo Prampram as its subject. The design for this location imagines a pixel for the new West- African metropolis. The studio project had to be positioned to larger issues as well like the urbanizing west coast, climate change, sea level rise, and food security. The sketch masterplan accommodating Accra's growth has been done in collaboration with UN Habitat and several Dutch offices, focusing on the ambition to provide the foundations for the naturally evolving city. Within the studio

framework we offered possibilities to reflect and learn from the plan, engage with the actors and agents in the process.
