Open Call: Seeking 7 guest tutors for writing course O6 (Spring 2026)

Published on

We are excited to invite you to contribute to the upcoming Spring 2026 edition of the O6 Narrative course, a writing course, at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture. O6 is an important part of our master’s curriculum in Architecture, Urbanism, and Landscape Architecture, designed to help students develop further and sharpen their writing, reflection, and research skills as they prepare for graduation.

Writing in O6 is not only about producing a final original text, but also about how form and design influences thought. Different writing formats open up different ways of seeing, shaping, and sharing ideas. An academic paper demands rigor and precision, an essay allows for exploration and interpretation, a journalistic article connects architectural thinking to public debate, a script translates spatial ideas into narrative, and fictional writing unlocks imagination to envision alternative futures. By exposing students to a variety of formats, we encourage them to discover how writing can shape their design and critical thinking, professional identity, and position within the discipline.

We are therefore looking for seven guest tutors, each proposing a distinct format that will guide students in their final semester (pre-graduation project), through which the students explore a topic that they chose individually, and develop with your guidance an original piece of writing. Your role will be to create a framework, both inspirational and practical, that gives students clarity about the form, while leaving space for them to explore their own research questions, themes, and personal ambitions.

Writing formats

We welcome proposals for diverse formats such as:

  • Essays: critical, interpretative, reflective
  • Academic papers: analytical, structured, research-driven
  • Journalistic articles: accessible, topical, connected to societal debate
  • Scripts: narrative-driven, linking space and storytelling
  • Fictional writing: speculative, imaginative, future-oriented

Other formats are also welcome, it is important to offer students a clear framework in the collective sessions that explore the strengths and implications of a particular form, and development a piece of own research and writing for the students.
