From the jury report:
Doggerland, the breeding ground of the North Sea
The design assignment for the construction of wind turbines in the North Sea is urgent. Ziega van den Berk has designed the possibilities of a landscape below sea level in an innovative way. The starting point for her design was an investigation into marine life. The jury was impressed by her innovative approach, and her complete and excellent graduation project.

TEST#1: THE ISLAND
With his graduation project, Jacopo Grilli demonstrates a completely unique outlook on climate change. He connects the reality of sea level rise to his utopia. Grilli applies the ideal conditions of an island in his proposal for the spatial redevelopment of the Randstad conurbation. Dream and reality reinforce each other in this future-proof plan, according to the jury.

Poku Oso | Conservatorium Suriname
Lindsey van de Wetering composed a layered design in which various elements come together. The buildings that together form the Conservatorium van Suriname are, as it were, a soundscape of humans, nature and music. Van de Wetering is aware of the value of architecture to a community. The complexity of the design and the interdisciplinary character thereof greatly appealed to the jury.

The Fire-Scape
Hanna Prinssen combines the historical use of fire as land management method with her knowledge of Dutch landscape architecture. The result is an excellent project that addresses an urgent issue with a completely integrated design proposal. Prinssen introduces ‘fire dykes’ so the natural phenomenon of fire forms part of the landscape in an intelligent manner.

The jury of the Academy of Architecture consists of the head of the Master in Architecture Jan-Richard Kikkert, the head of the Master in Urbanism Markus Appenzeller, the head of the Master in Landscape Architecture Hanneke Kijne and director Madeleine Maaskant. Architect and philosopher Jetske van Oosten has been added to the jury as external member. Van Oosten works at the Creative Industries Fund NL (Stimuleringfonds Creatieve Industrie) as programme manager of the Action Agenda for Spatial Design (Actie Agenda Ruimtelijk Ontwerp).
