On Friday, 17 October 2025, Hans Teerds will present his inaugural lecture as professor at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture. In this new research group, he will focus on the relationship between spatial design, social sustainability and climate change.
Hans Teerds:
'Climate change will transform our living and working environments, cities, villages and landscapes, houses and public spaces. The research of Climate, Space, and Politics examines how spatial design can contribute to this necessary transition of the (un)built environment, and how spatial designers – architects, urban planners and landscape architects – can help residents and users to take their responsibility and to become the agents of this transition.'
Hans combines his design and research experience with a broad social vision. His inaugural lecture promises to be an inspiring exploration of how design, politics and climate converge in the way we shape our living environment.
