At 21.00, the annual Midsummer Night Lecture will start in the Balkenzaal. This year, the lecture will be given by Francesco Veenstra. As Chief Government Architect, he has drawn up the agenda The 22nd century begins now, in which the period 2021-2024 is used to look a century ahead. Not searching for beautiful panoramas, but rather to reason back: what should we do now? Looking far ahead and learning from the past helps us move with the ongoing changes.
The challenges identified in this agenda are considerable. Whether it concerns climate, energy, mobility, economy, agriculture, water or social justice: we will have to deal with our space differently.
This is a private event for students, teachers and the Academy of Architecture staff.
