From January 29 to May 20, the lecture series C4C6 (theory, society and design) will take place at the Academy of Architecture with the title "Arcadian Anthropocene?". For fourteen weeks, second and third year students of architecture, urban design and landscape architecture of the Academy of Architecture will have lectures on the theme of the Arcadian Anthropocene.

The Anthropocene is the name some have given to our current geological age: the period during which human activity is the dominant global influence on climate and the environment. It is often used in a negative connotation: human activities lead to the destruction of the planet as we know it. In the Theory, society and design course, students will investigate the flip-side: what is the potential of human forces in a positive sense? How can we as architects, urban designers and landscape architects contribute to a socially, nature- and landscape-inclusive Anthropocene?

The lectures are linked to the different research groups of the Academy. Lectures will be delivered by a.o. Taneha Bacchin (TU Delft), Luis Callejas (LCLA), Daniel Ibañez (Harvard GSD), Katya Letunovskaya (Habidatum) and Rob Marsh (C.F. Møller Architects). Tonight the lecture will be given by Hester van Dijk and Reinder Bakker (Overtreders W).
