On 8 March we welcome Peter Bishop, Professor of Urban Design to The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London and director of Allies and Morrison Architects. Bishop will trace the evolution of London to becoming a global capital, the strategies that have been used and consider how it might adapt to Brexit. The 1lectures will be illustrated by a series of case studies.

For 25 years he was a planning director in four different Central London Boroughs and has worked on major projects including Canary Wharf and Kings Cross, one of the largest and most complex sites in the UK.
His book, “The Temporary City”, exploring the origins of current thinking on temporary urbanism (Routledge 2012). Recently he has published a book examining the political processes behind major developments “Planning, Politics and City Making – a case study of Kings Cross (RIBA Publishing 2016).

Peter lectures and teaches extensively, has been a design advisor to the Mayors of London, Bucharest and Zhuhai and on the Sochi Winter Olympics Legacy project and Central Dallas regeneration. He is an honorary fellow of University College London, an honorary fellow of the RIBA, holds an honorary doctorate from the university of Kingston and is Distinguished Visiting Scholar at UTS Sydney.

Tickets are available in the webshop of the Amsterdam Centre for Architecture. In addition, tickets can be purchased at the door from 7:30 PM on the evening of the lecture itself (if available). University of Architecture students are entitled to free admission on presentation of their student ID card.
