Academy of Architecture
Waterlooplein 211-213
1011 PG Amsterdam

On November 23rd, senior architect at studioSK, Paul van der Ree, will expand on the concept ‘landscaping the station’, the process of transforming the station area into a station landscape.

The station landscape is formed by differences in height, bridges, trees, and green roofs, and offers a solution to a shrinking station program that lacks an iconic building. The location of the station as a whole becomes the carrier of the identity of the station and the urban dynamic.

studioSK, the architecture studio of engineering bureau Movares, focuses on quality for the public and a careful alignment with the context. Local quality, the genius loci, forms the basis for a characteristic and integral design. In this way, the complex tasks also get a local colour and a specific concept that is native to the area. studioSK projects range from waiting areas at stations to improve, among other things, the social safety, to varied tasks for the national monument building of the Royal Institute for the Tropics, and the bicycle parking garage at the Mahlerplein, in the heart of the Zuidas.
