Selection and results
An important part of theadmissionprocessforthe Academy of Architecture is thesubmission of a portfolio. Thisallowsyoutodemonstratewhoyou are as a designer, whereyourinterestslieandwhat skills you have alreadymastered. Upload your portfolio as a PDF fileand keep it compact (maximum 20 pages). A good portfolio contains:
A widevariety of your design work. These are projectsfromyourpreviouseducationand/or professional practice. Preferably as diverse as possible.
Yourownprojectsthatdemonstrateyour design qualities. For collaborativework, specifyexactlywhatyourrole was in that project. Or projectsthatyouinitiatedanddesignedyourself.
Diverse design work – to scale – that demonstrates your design skills. Do not just show the end results. Also include sketches and ideas. And images such as floor plans and cross-sections and surroundings in different scales, details, etc.
Various design work – in images – in whichyoudemonstrateyourvisual skills, such as hand sketches, models, visuals, diagramsand maquettes.
Work from relevant professional experience or courses that demonstrate your design knowledge.
Your own fascinations within the profession – show these!
Yourownfascinationswithintheprofession – show this!
We expect to be able to give the final results as early as possible in June. If you are admitted, you confirm your registration and you can start your studies at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture.
Concurrent model
Yes, the master's courses are based on the concurrent model, which means that professional experience is gained simultaneously with the programme. Students must work at least 20 hours per week in a work environment that is relevant to their study programme.
